Whispering interpreting, also called chuchotage, lets one or two people follow a conversation in another language without any equipment. PLG Translation provides whispering interpreters who sit or stand beside the listener and interpret quietly while the speaker talks.

When whispering interpreting is useful

Site visits, factory tours and inspections.
Meetings where only one or two participants need interpreting.
Walking tours, exhibitions and informal events.
Situations where booths and headsets are not available.

Whispering Interpreters

Good to know

Small groups only: it suits one or two listeners. For larger audiences, simultaneous interpreting with equipment is better.
Noise: the interpreter’s voice competes with the room, so quieter settings give better results.
Tiring work: for sessions longer than a short period, a second interpreter is usually recommended so they can take turns.
Preparation: sharing the agenda, names and technical terms in advance improves accuracy.
